D. Terradellas – Merope

What a delight to come across the work of italian-catalan baroque composer Domènec Terradellas (1713–1751), a musician who is receiving more and more attention. Hardly any of his scenic productions have been performed in recent times. I and italian conductor Stefano Demicheli are seeking to remedy this neglect with a production of one of his operas.

Terradellas was much more than a local talent. He was a composer of the first rank, admired by both Rousseau and Burney. We are working towards seeing a production of either »Merope« or »Didone Abbandonata« staged for the opera as well as the concert hall in order to bring his work to the attention of a wider audience.
